The Cold Steel OSS sub-hilt fighter offers all the advantages and performance of a custom knife at a fraction of the price. The blade is made from AUS8A Stainless Steel and is sharp on both edges (This is more of a fighting knife with dual edges). The blade is sharp but not the sharpest blade you will find. The blade portion is rather long at 8.25 inches long and an overall length of over 13 inches. Weighing a mere 9 ounces gives this fighting knife a “fast” feel.
Once again the Kraton grip is awesome. You could grease this handle up and still get a strong grip. This fighting knife comes with a handle guard and a sub-hilt which are both injected in to one piece of Kraton so you don’t have to worry about separation. Kraton handles are very durable. The sub-hilt gives you more grip options but it definitely requires a preference to use a sub-hilt. You may not like the feel of a knife with a sub-hilt so I suggest you hold one prior to purchasing a fighting knife like this.
The OSS Knife comes with the Cold Steel Secure-Ex sheath. It is a decent sheath that holds the knife well. It’s not the best sheath out there but it’s far from the worst. It does the job and it does it well. It doesn’t have a ton of mounting options but it’s job is to make the knife readily available for a fight and it does that well.
The Cold Steel OSS is an excellent Fighting Knife for the price. Is it the best fighting knife out there? No but you do get a great knife for the price. If you are looking for a fighting knife then this is a good mid-range fighting knife worth consideration.
